What is safeguarding?
Safeguarding is about creating a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for everyone involved in our bowls club. It's also about taking steps to prevent and address any kind of harm or abuse and encouraging a culture of respect and fairness throughout the bowls community.
Who does safeguarding apply to?
Safeguarding applies to all members.
Whilst safeguarding is often associated with children, it's equally important for adults.
What is the role of a Safeguarding Officer
The Safeguarding Officer plays a vital role in creatigng a safe and inclusive environment at the club and is responsible for recordinng and reporting safeguarding concerns to Bowls England.
What is not safeguarding
Safeguarding focuses on protecting individuals from harm, not on resolvng broader issues such as club culture or personality conflicts. These issues can often be resolved through our club code of conduct agreed upon by members. If this fails, Bowls England Regualtion 9 will be followed.
Safeguarding Policy Statement
Currently we are governed by the requirements of Bowls England, with regards to Safeguarding, and are supported by the Norfolk Bowls Association and their Safeguarding Policy, which not only covers the requirements of those under 18, but also vulnerable adults.
Both policies can be accessed via the links page.
